Kerry Katona has shared a memory of her late Aunty on the first anniversary since her death.

The former Atomic Kitten star shared a poignant post with followers on Instagram sharing her heartache that the year had passed without her much-loved relative.

She penned: “Can’t believe it’s been a year already!!! Miss you so much ange!!!”

The singer, 40, previously told how her aunty Angela, who was more like a sister to her, had tried hard to beat her demons before her tragic death.

She wrote: “This vile illness took our ang! We MUST talk more about addiction!!! She tried so hard to get sober but it got the better of her.”

Her plea came alongside a quote that branded addiction as “hell”.

It read: “Addiction is a special kind of hell. It takes the soul of the addict and breaks the hearts of everyone who loves them.”

Last year on hearing of her passing she posted: “My crazy, beautiful Aunty (more my sister) sadly passed away yesterday!

“We’re all absolutely heartbroken! Oh Ang I really wish I could rewind and tell you how much I love you and I always wanted to be you when I was little. I should of done more!”

The former pop star knows herself the harm addiction can cause on those around the sufferer and has successfully overcome her own battle with drugs.

Kerry has since turned her life around but shares a glimpse of her tough start in life when her mum struggled with addiction and couldn’t look after her and she ended up in care.

Kerry has since got her own house and is taking control of her finances after twice being declared bankrupt

She told on Steph’s Packed Lunch recently: As a child, I moved round a lot. At the age of 13, I was put into foster careā€¦

But after staying with four different foster families she settled for three years with foster parents Meg and Fred.

“I stayed in several foster homes and refuges but eventually I was taken in by an amazing couple, Mag and Fred. Mags sadly passed away six years ago, but I still remain really close to Fred.”

Kerry praised her foster father Fred and late foster mum for opening up their home and their hearts to her, saying she feels lucky to have had them in her life.
